The Cavalla does have a custom tandem axle trailer with surge brakes to move it to other research locations or service. If trailering is necessary to perform research, the rental fee will be increased according to the mileage from UNO.

During the relentless pounding of Hurricane Katrina on August 29th 2005, the Cavalla took quite a beating. It was recovered from a boatyard in Chalmette, La where it rode out the storm on its trailer. The Cavalla was taken back to Island Boats to be recommisioned by the following March of 2006. Since then, the Cavalla has reliably continued its field sampling duties in Lake Pontchartrain and the Gulf of Mexico. It's home port is now the Seabrook Harbor drystack facility in the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal.
